Case Poster Exhibit & Abstract Submission Guidelines
All Case Poster Exhibits must be approved by the California Society of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery Annual Meeting Program Committee. Approval will be determined by the submission of an abstract.
The primary author and presenter of any Case Poster Exhibit abstract must be a physician and board certified dermatologist in a full time private or academic practice, or a resident in an approved dermatology training program in California, or a medical student enrolled in an accredited medical school in California.
Please e-mail your Case Poster Exhibit abstract to CalDerm at email@example.com along with complete contact information (name, mailing address, phone and email address). If you are a resident please include residency program name and year of residency training at the time of the presentation. If you are a medical student, please include the institution name. The abstract will be limited to a one page, Word document in 12 pt., single spaced and contain the title of the presentation. All abstract sections must be completed for consideration, including the four components of the abstract body (purpose, design, summary and conclusion). The abstracts should be as informative as possible Deadline to submit will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Approvals will be given within two weeks of submission.
All abstracts must be produced and placed by the presenting author or co-author. Commercial involvement in the production or placement of accepted poster abstracts is prohibited.
Registration fee for the 2017 CalDerm Symposium will be waived for all accepted poster exhibits.
In order to include as many unique presenters as possible, we are limiting the number of abstract submissions to two (2).
Please do not include industry, trade, or product names in your abstract title or content. Generic terms should be should be used instead of trade names. Any trade names will be changed to their generic or component name. The use of company or product names as a means for promotion/advertising is strictly prohibited
All abstract submitters are required to complete a full disclosure indicating relationships that they or their spouse/partner or any secondary authors have with commercial entities producing health goods or services within the last five years. Should a relationship be determined to be a potential conflict of interest as it relates to the topic(s) submitted for CME activity, you will be notified to discuss resolution it is determined a conflict does exist. Any identified conflict(s) of interest must be resolved prior to confirmation of the abstract presenter’s participation. Abstracts with unresolved conflict(s) of interest will not be placed on the final program. All financial relationships must be disclosed and communicated to the attendees from the podium for oral abstracts or via a portion of the graphics for poster abstracts. All Poster Exhibit presenters will be required to disclose any interests with manufacturer(s) of any commercial product and/or provider of commercial services in their poster presentations.
Only abstracts on completed research will be considered. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Case Poster Exhibit Details
Case Poster Exhibits will be on display Saturday, September 16 & Sunday, September 17 during the general Symposium schedule. Please have your poster set-up by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Boards will be set-up on Friday, September 15 by 4 p.m. Board space is on a "first come, first served" basis.
Case Poster Exhibit Presentations
Posters should be prepared in advance and should be brought in person by the presenter or medical colleague attending the meeting. Do not mail your poster. Posters cannot contain any industry logos, content, advertising messages, literature, contact information, etc. Industry representatives may not be involved in or relegated to the hanging/placement of the poster.
Each poster display will be 4 feet high x 8 feet wide mounted horizontally. Suggestions for the preparation and presentation of your poster are provided below. The first author of each poster is responsible for the proper assembly, mounting and presentation of his/her poster. All displays must be mounted on and removed from the assigned board per the schedule found in the meeting program. The presenter must provide pushpins for his/her display. At the top of each board CalDerm will place a label listing the poster number and title
Each poster should include the poster title and author(s) name(s). Again, industry logos, content, advertising messages, literature, contact information, etc., may not be included. The lettering of this title strip should be at least 1" high. All poster material should be confined to the space provided. Text and illustrations must be readable from a distance of at least 5 feet. All lines should be heavily drawn. Typed materials should be on the largest typeface available.
In planning your poster presentation, remember that the poster will be available for viewing and discussion for several hours. Posters should be readable from 5 feet away. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation. When planning your poster presentation, aim for clarity and simplicity. In order to maintain a good visual balance, poster content should occupy approximately 50% of the total 4' x 8' poster board area. An effective poster should be clear and concise. The objective of the work should be stated. Experimental details should be concise. Tables and conclusions should be clearly stated. Do not overload the poster with excessive text and data. Where possible, organize tables and figures chronologically in vertical progression.
Assembly & Tear Down
All posters should be up by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the Costa Del Sol Foyer just outside the Exhibit Hall and near the meeting registration counter. All posters are to be taken down after Noon on Sunday, September 17. It is the responsibility of the poster presenter to tear down and pack their poster. CalDerm will not be responsible for any posters left in the exhibit hall after the closing of the exhibit hall on Sunday afternoon.
