Victor D. Newcomer (April 5, 1916 - March 15, 2002) was a Clinical Professor of Medicine in Dermatology at UCLA's School of Medicine and a clinician in private practice in Santa Monica, California. A gifted teacher and leader, Dr. Newcomer received countless accolades including the prized Golden Apple Award from both UCLA and the California Medical Association. Dr. Newcomer was an esteemed and beloved educator, mentor and role model throughout the Dermatologic community and amongst his students. His life exemplified his dedication and commitment to excellence in teaching and academics. CalDerm has established the Victor D. Newcomer, M.D. Memorial Lecture to honor his legacy and encourage new practicing clinicians of Dermatology to strive for excellence in their own work.
